Looking at Bollywood and the posters used to promote classic Hindi Film in the 1950’s, Hello Bolly created a range of jewellery and textile accessories. Apprentices learned how to create fashion accessories, work with precious metals to produce their own jewellery range, as well as having a go at traditional crafts such as millinery and shoe making. The programme encompassed mixed media, digital imagery, jewellery making, printed and constructed textiles.

Apprentices participating in the 20:20 Vision project used improvisation and drama devising techniques to produce an engaging and original storytelling film. All apprentices formed part of the film crew for the four weeks exploring and developing their talent and potential as film-makers. The project also featured a link with Gallery 37 Chicago.

Body jamn was a performance based project that incorporated a fusion of dance, technology and digital media arts. Through the technical and creative dance process the apprentices explored the potential of interactive technologies and how these can generate live feedback (sound and video) based on the movement of the human body.

Architectural Spaces focused on the investigation of spaces and environments that surround us and how they can be altered. Apprentices created products & art pieces that represented an atmosphere or environment they had experienced or would like to experience. The aim for apprentice artists on the ‘Broadcast’ project was to compose a score soundtrack for the film that was made as part of the ‘20:20 Vision’ project. Participants used traditional and contemporary instruments to create the piece and will undertook vocal coaching, learned about songwriting and music composition and were trained in sound recording and engineering.
Multi Art – Birmingham Children’s Hospital

The Multi Art project worked with both sound and visual media. Using found and made sounds, apprentices produced their own ambient music, to chill out to. The project also worked with new interactive technologies, exploring the way in which digitally projected imagery and music can inform and respond to each other. In addition to this apprentices investigated germs and the hospital environment, employing a variety of textile techniques and materials to create unusual panels reflecting their creative ideas and thoughts.
