Every year Gallery 37 recruits a team of professional Artists to deliver the Gallery 37 programme. Artform areas will differ from one year to the next and the search for Artists begins early in the year.
Each lead artist will be responsible for the development of the artistic programme, in collaboration with the partner organisations and the Gallery 37 staff. They will then be responsible for delivering the programme in line with the aims and objectives of Gallery 37, with the support of administrative back-up and access to specialist support for young people. Lead Artist applicants should demonstrate:

Practical and artistic skills

The intensive training week will be compulsory for all artists employed on Gallery 37

Experience of working with youth and community groups, and in particular 16-25 year olds. This will include drawing up individual work plans for the apprentice artists, and supporting their development for the duration of the programme.

Experience of working with disadvantaged young people and an awareness of issues affecting young people from the inner city.

Experience of programming and delivering project based work, which will result in high quality arts objects for retail purposes or a programme of performances.

Ability to mentor and support shadowing trainees.

Ability to introduce and develop a range of techniques, with knowledge of new technology desirable.

Ability to provide leadership.

Awareness of accreditation programmes, and evaluation and assessment procedures and have the skills to implement a curriculum.

Understanding of the objectives of the Gallery 37 programme and those of the partnership organisations.

Ability to work collaboratively with the a joint lead artist.

Organisational skills, including a clear indication of the materials and equipment needed to fulfill the programme.
