One of the seven projects being run in 2008 is Film and Music, in partnership with Symphony Hall and Birmingham Rep.Within this project two separate groups, one affiliated to Symphony Hall and one affiliated to The Rep will share an artistic brief. They wil work separately, focusing on their designated art forms but come together at set times to share ideas and weave, where appropriate, their artistic responses together.
Using the two media of music and film Apprentices will be set the task of ‘mapping’ and responding to the creative culture of their city as they see it. Where do they see creative work taking place? How do they feel about it? Does it engage them? Do they like it? Do they not like it? How do spaces designated as ‘creative’ spaces work? How do they feel when they are in them? How can they best express their responses to the creative spaces they identify through their art form? All work will be showcased at the end of the four week programme in a spectacular 10 year celebration held under canvas in Birminghams prestigious Centenary Square.
